Further to the last post on the website on 26 March 2020, Bowls England have interpreted government guidelines and said that bowls greens can open again and and allowed singles, pairs and triples games to be played under certain social distancing rules and cleanliness standards.

As a result of this, Bawdeswell Bowls Club decided to organise a Singles Competition and invited members of Bawdeswell, Bintree and Lakeside to take part. 30 members of the three clubs applied to enter in a round robin singles competition. It was decided to split the entry into two groups of 15. This would give each player 14 games over a period of 7/8 weeks, averaging 2 games per week. At the conclusion of each group stage, the top four in each will take part in a knockout to decide the eventual winner. Each game will cost £1 per player.      It’s been a great innovation allowing people to have a game of bowls, get some fresh air and have a natter with others outwith their own  household !!

Great thanks must go to Paul Digby for keeping the green in excellent condition and to Paul and Richard Flaxman for organising the competition.

League tables will be regularly updated and seen under the Results section of the website.

Please enjoy your games and stay safe and well !!
