In light of the current situation with coronavirus, the committee felt that it was appropriate to update you with regard to the upcoming 2020/21 season.
We currently have 33 members who have applied to join the club for this coming season.
As it stands, at present, the Cawston, Age UK, Elmham and Hempton leagues have all been cancelled.
Bawdeswell Bowls Club are in a similar situation with their leagues being cancelled. Paul Digby, however, has said that the green will be looked after and kept in a playable condition.
A suggestion was made that we could play singles and pairs leagues within the club and possibly the club competitions. This would depend, however, on how many members would be willing to take part. The situation has changed since we completed our application forms and all those who indicated that they would take part in club competitions may have changed.
The situation has also changed since the government announcement on Monday evening. At present, therefore, there will be no games of bowls organized of any kind. If, in the future, the government relaxes these rules we may revert to that suggestion but only if it is safe to do so. We would keep those taking part to a minimum at any one time and ensure that social distancing rules were complied with.
It is completely understandable that some members may not wish to take part at all.
Members who have applied to join have paid their subscriptions for the coming season. The committee is suggesting that these subscriptions be carried forward to cover the 2021/22 season. If any member feels that they would not wish that, then the club would be willing to refund the current subscriptions.
Please indicate, in response to this e-mail, if you wish to take part in our club leagues and competitions when safe to do so.
